William S. Thompson U.S. Attorney | U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia

Nehmiah Allen-Griggs, known as "Newski," a 23-year-old resident of Dallas, Georgia, has been sentenced to ten years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for his involvement in distributing methamphetamine. The sentence was announced today and stems from Allen-Griggs' participation in a drug trafficking organization (DTO) that distributed large quantities of methamphetamine and fentanyl in the Southern District of West Virginia.

Court documents revealed that on March 1, 2023, Allen-Griggs sold approximately one pound of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $2,000 in Huntington. A subsequent search on November 15, 2023, at a residence on Highlawn Avenue led law enforcement officers to seize methamphetamine, fentanyl, firearms including a Landor Arms Canyon Arms shotgun and two pistols with ammunition. Allen-Griggs admitted to using this location with others for storing and distributing drugs.

Allen-Griggs is one among 27 individuals indicted in connection with the DTO operations involving the transportation and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl from Detroit to Huntington and other areas within the Southern District of West Virginia. Of these individuals, 22 have pleaded guilty alongside Allen-Griggs. One more individual entered a guilty plea related to another case while indictments against remaining defendants are pending.

United States Attorney Will Thompson acknowledged the efforts made by several agencies including the FBI, Cabell County Sheriff’s Department, DEA, MDENT composed of various local police departments along with state police units like ATF and U.S Postal Inspection Service for their roles in investigating this case.

The sentencing was delivered by United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorneys Joseph F. Adams and Stephanie Taylor under the OCDETF initiative—a comprehensive program designed since 1982 aimed at combating major drug trafficking networks through collaboration across federal state levels ensuring public safety protection against such criminal threats.
