The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania has announced that Eustolio Sanchez-Ramirez, 38, from Chiapas, Mexico, was indicted by a federal grand jury on February 5, 2025. The charge against him is illegal reentry into the United States.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the indictment claims Sanchez-Ramirez was found in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, around December 19, 2024. This occurred after he had previously been removed from the United States. The indictment further alleges that Sanchez-Ramirez was deported through Brownsville, Texas and subsequently reentered without legal permission.
The investigation of this case involved U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) alongside the Harrisburg Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams is handling the prosecution.
If convicted under federal law for this offense, Sanchez-Ramirez faces a maximum penalty of two years imprisonment, followed by supervised release and a fine. Sentencing would be determined by a judge who will consider federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
It should be noted that indictments are merely allegations at this stage; all individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
