Memphis, TN – Seven individuals have been indicted on federal charges related to firearm and violent crimes in West Tennessee, as announced by Acting United States Attorney Reagan Fondren. The announcement underscores the ongoing commitment of the U.S. Attorney's Office to address illegal firearm possession and violent offenses.

The individuals charged include Torrian Floyd, 35, who faces one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; Mohamadou Ba, 21, charged with robbery affecting interstate commerce and related firearms offenses; Maurice Harris, 31, facing multiple counts of robbery and firearms charges; Marshun Lewis, 24, charged with robbery of a postal carrier and brandishing a firearm; Royce Newsome, 32, and Alvin Anthony, 30, both indicted for conspiracy to commit carjacking among other charges; and Christopher Busby, 53, facing two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

These cases are under investigation by several agencies including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, Project Safe Neighborhoods Gun Task Force, Memphis Police Department, and Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Information about federal gun crimes can be reported to ATF at 1-800-283-4867.

"The charges and allegations contained in the indictments are merely accusations of criminal conduct," it was noted in the release. "The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."

The indictments fall under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and communities. The program emphasizes building trust within communities while employing data-driven strategies for crime reduction.

Acting United States Attorney Fondren expressed gratitude towards Assistant United States Attorneys handling these prosecutions along with law enforcement partners involved in the investigations.
