Danielle R. Sassoon, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, along with Frank A. Tarentino, the Special Agent in Charge for the New York Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Jessica S. Tisch, Commissioner of the New York City Police Department (NYPD), announced today that a Superseding Indictment has been unsealed in Manhattan federal court. The indictment charges Ivan Collado, Patricia Villalba (also known as "Patty" or "Sweetz"), Arecio Collado, and Jerry Vargas (also known as "Peligro") with several crimes, including cyberstalking resulting in death, murder using a firearm, conspiracy to commit kidnapping resulting in death, and narcotics conspiracy related to the stalking and murder of Raymond Resto on November 26, 2023.
Ivan Collado was previously arrested and charged on February 15, 2024. Villalba, Arecio Collado, and Vargas were apprehended recently and will appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Ona T. Wang. The case is assigned to U.S. District Judge J. Paul Oetken.
U.S. Attorney Danielle R. Sassoon stated: “As alleged, these defendants carried out a sophisticated and brazen scheme to stalk, kidnap, and kill Raymond Resto over a drug debt. They murdered Resto in front of his wife in the parking lot of the Throggs Neck Shopping Center in the Bronx." She emphasized her office's commitment to pursuing justice against violent criminals.
DEA Special Agent Frank A. Tarentino commented: “Drug trafficking is a dangerous and illegal business often entangled with violent and deadly consequences." He highlighted that those involved chose violence to further their criminal activities.
The indictment alleges that from November 2023 through February 2024, Ivan Collado, Villalba, and Arecio Collado conspired to distribute large quantities of cocaine in New York City. They allegedly harassed a drug dealer who could not repay his debt for cocaine obtained from them on consignment.
The defendants reportedly used threats of violence against this dealer while trying to identify customers linked to him and Resto by installing a GPS tracking device on Resto’s car before his murder.
On November 26, 2023, at Throggs Neck Shopping Center's parking lot in the Bronx where he was present with his wife; three gunmen blocked their path with a BMW attempting an abduction which ended tragically when they opened fire on him multiple times leading eventually toward pronouncement dead upon reaching hospital care thereafter being aged forty-nine years old then followed up continuing intimidation tactics toward others connected indirectly like family members belonging aforementioned individual too still according charge sheets currently under judicial scrutiny ongoing yet
