A man convicted of murdering a Texas pastor was executed by the state on February 5th, as confirmed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Steven Lawayne Nelson was found guilty of killing Clinton "Clint" Dobson at NorthPointe Baptist Church in Arlington, Texas. The incident occurred during a robbery where Nelson also attacked another woman present at the church.

Nelson's criminal history includes the murder of a fellow inmate while he awaited trial for Pastor Dobson's murder. After extensive legal proceedings, his death sentence was enforced.

Attorney General Paxton stated, "After years of legal battles, Steven Nelson was punished for his heinous crimes and justice has finally been served." He expressed sympathy for Pastor Dobson's family and other victims affected by Nelson's actions. Paxton emphasized the importance of upholding Texas law and ensuring that capital sentences are executed appropriately.

The execution took place at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice facility in Huntsville, Texas.
