Attorney General Kris Mayes has announced the launch of a new webpage designed to gather reports regarding ongoing federal funding issues. This initiative follows concerns that Arizona entities continue to face difficulties due to what is described as "Trump's chaotic federal funding freeze attempt." Despite securing a temporary pause through legal action, some organizations report continued challenges.
Mayes stated, "We have reason to believe Arizonans continue to suffer the consequences of Trump's chaotic federal funding freeze attempt, despite my office and other attorneys general securing a temporary pause in federal court." She urged those affected by paused or inaccessible funds in violation of court orders to report their experiences.
Recent judicial actions have temporarily halted the Trump administration's freeze on grants and loans. Nevertheless, disruptions persist for some organizations. U.S. District Court of Rhode Island Judge John McConnell issued an order preventing any interference with taxpayer money already allocated by Congress. This order was part of a case involving Attorney General Mayes and several other state attorneys general.
Additionally, U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Loren Alikhan issued another restraining order related to a case brought by Democracy Forward on behalf of the National Council of Nonprofits. The judge noted that evidence from plaintiffs highlighted widespread panic among various organizations due to the funding freeze.
