The Burleigh County Human Resources Office has announced a job opening for the position of Legal Assistant I. The full-time role, based in Bismarck, ND, offers a salary range of $20.78 to $23.06 per hour and includes full benefits. Applications are being accepted until February 20, 2025.

The Legal Assistant I will work under the supervision of the department supervisor and support agency legal staff through clerical, technical, and paraprofessional activities. Candidates should have two years of experience in legal office support and preferably an associate degree with an emphasis in the legal field or equivalent education and experience.

Key responsibilities include preparing case files, notifying witnesses of trial dates, maintaining court calendars, collecting documents and reports, preparing subpoenas, consulting with court clerks for scheduling cases, and coordinating with law enforcement for officer court appearances. Additionally, the role involves preparing various legal documents such as pleadings and motions, organizing files for courtroom presentations, scheduling attorney appointments, managing restitution collections funds, and providing general clerical assistance.
