The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado has announced the conviction of Bryan Cornwell, a 41-year-old former resident of Norwood, Colorado. A federal jury found Cornwell guilty on two counts of transmitting threats in interstate commerce, while acquitting him on a third count.

During the trial, evidence revealed that from late August to late October 2023, Cornwell sent over 80 emails with graphic and threatening content to a law enforcement official. The emails included serious threats such as "I AM GOING TO KILL YOU." At the time of these incidents, Cornwell was awaiting sentencing for an earlier case where he admitted to making threats against the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office.

Cornwell is scheduled to be sentenced on April 2, 2025, in Durango, Colorado.

United States District Court Judge Gordon P. Gallagher presided over the proceedings. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Assistant United States Attorney Jeffrey Graves led the prosecution.
