Carlos Rodriguez, a 31-year-old resident of Reading, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by five years of supervised release for trafficking fentanyl and methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down on January 14, 2025, by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann.

The case against Rodriguez stemmed from an operation on August 16, 2022. Law enforcement officials used a confidential informant to arrange for Rodriguez to deliver methamphetamine. He was intercepted in Northumberland where authorities recovered approximately 480 grams of methamphetamine from his vehicle.

The investigation involved multiple agencies including the Clinton County Drug Task Force, the Office of the Pennsylvania Attorney General, Pine Creek Township Police Department, Pennsylvania State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alisan V. Martin led the prosecution.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. The program emphasizes building trust within communities and supporting organizations that work to prevent violence.

Additionally, this prosecution falls under a broader district initiative targeting heroin traffickers as part of efforts led by the United States Attorney’s Office in response to the nationwide heroin epidemic.

It is important to note that indictments are merely allegations until proven guilty in court.
