A Bradford County man has been sentenced to 132 months in prison for distributing methamphetamine, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Robert M. Lutz, aged 42, received his sentence on January 31, 2025, from Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann of the United States District Court.
Acting United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that Lutz was involved in a drug distribution conspiracy from September 2019 through February 2020. This conspiracy included importing and distributing methamphetamine across Bradford, Columbia, and Lackawanna counties with two indicted co-conspirators.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted controlled purchases of crystal methamphetamine from Lutz on at least two occasions, exchanging approximately $4,000 dollars each time. Laboratory analysis confirmed that the methamphetamine was between 93 and 96 percent pure.
The investigation was led by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is handling prosecution duties for this case.
Under federal law, the maximum penalty for this offense can include life imprisonment, supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. Sentencing decisions are made by judges who consider applicable federal sentencing statutes and guidelines.
