Lakeland man sentenced to 12 years for drug trafficking

U.S. District Judge Virginia M. Hernandez Covington has sentenced Jermaine Jerome Campbell, a 35-year-old resident of Lakeland, to 12 years in federal prison. Campbell was convicted for possessing with the intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine, following his guilty plea on June 25, 2024.

Court documents reveal that on September 15, 2023, Campbell distributed fentanyl pills from his mother's residence. A subsequent search of his home on September 21, 2023, led law enforcement to discover bulk quantities of methamphetamine concealed within a tool bag.

The investigation into Campbell's activities was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lakeland Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney David Pardo.

This case falls under an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigation. OCDETF aims to identify, disrupt, and dismantle high-level criminal organizations threatening the United States through a coordinated approach involving multiple agencies and driven by intelligence and prosecution efforts.
