Applications are now open for a part-time justice court judge position in Hyrum, Utah. This role will serve the communities of Hyrum, Mendon, Paradise, and Nibley, replacing Judge Paul Larsen who is set to retire in June.

Candidates must meet several criteria to be considered for the position in Cache County. They must be at least 25 years old, a U.S. citizen, and have been a Utah resident for at least three years. Additionally, they need a law degree that qualifies them to apply for bar admission in any U.S. state. Residency in Cache County or neighboring counties Box Elder, Rich, or Weber is also required either upon appointment or before taking the bench.

The salary range for this position is $28,449 to $36,576 annually without benefits.

Utah law mandates that the Judicial Nominating Commission present at least three nominees to Mayor Miller within 45 days of its initial meeting. Mayor Miller then has 30 days to select a finalist whose selection must be ratified by the Hyrum City Council and certified by the Utah Judicial Council.
