Barry Paul Vining, a 57-year-old resident of Denham Springs, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 78 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography. U.S. District Judge Brian A. Jackson delivered the sentence following Vining's conviction. After serving his prison term, Vining will be under supervised release for five years and must register as a sex offender. Additionally, he is required to pay $357,000 in restitution.

The case details reveal that on November 27, 2022, Vining distributed two images of child pornography by uploading them to an internet-based file-sharing service. This platform allowed global users to download and share these images. At the time of distribution, Vining was also found in possession of numerous files containing images and videos of child pornography.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul L. Pugliese.

This prosecution falls under Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project combines resources from federal, state, and local levels to locate and prosecute offenders while rescuing victims.
