Attorney General Dave Sunday has announced that David Balosa will serve a prison sentence of two to four years for sexually assaulting a young child in 1998. Balosa, a member of a Jehovah’s Witnesses congregation in Philadelphia, was found guilty by a Philadelphia County Jury on two felony counts of aggravated indecent assault and related misdemeanors.

In addition to his prison term, Balosa will undergo six years of probation and will be registered for life under the Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA). During the sentencing, the victim shared how Balosa's actions had impacted her life.

Attorney General Sunday praised the victim's courage: “For many years, this survivor lived without a sense of justice or closure for crimes that they endured as a child — and without their bravery, this conviction would not have been possible.” He also acknowledged the efforts of the Grand Jurors and trial jurors involved in the case.

Balosa is among over a dozen Jehovah’s Witnesses members charged by the Office of Attorney General following investigations into sexual abuse within various congregations across Pennsylvania. The prosecution was led by Senior Deputy Attorney General Zachary Wynkoop.
