Jose Luis Ramos, a 56-year-old from Michoacan, Mexico, received a five-year prison sentence for his involvement in methamphetamine trafficking. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Troy L. Nunley, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michele Beckwith.

Court documents revealed that Ramos was caught on a wiretap arranging the delivery of 10 pounds of methamphetamine in Southern California. Of this amount, two pounds were seized by the FBI in Sacramento.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cameron L. Desmond and Alstyn Bennett.

Ramos' co-defendant, Jesus Celaya, had previously been sentenced to 73 months in prison on October 10, 2024, for distributing methamphetamine.

This case falls under the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF), which aims to identify and dismantle major criminal organizations threatening the United States through a collaborative approach involving multiple agencies.
