A Burlington man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy. Giovani Denario Timmons, aged 24, was implicated in the distribution network operating between December 2019 and November 2021. Timmons was identified as a supplier alongside Kendric Centrall Childs, aged 25.

Court documents reveal that Timmons played a role in transporting methamphetamine to Iowa, including a significant seizure of approximately 362 pounds during a traffic stop in Arizona in January 2020. This incident marked the Arizona Department of Public Safety's largest single seizure of ice methamphetamine at that time.

Following his prison sentence, Timmons will undergo five years of supervised release, as there is no parole option within the federal system.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal from the Southern District of Iowa. The investigation involved multiple agencies: Burlington Police Department, Southeast Iowa Narcotics Taskforce, West Burlington Police Department, Des Moines County Sheriff's Office, Henry County Sheriff's Office, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Iowa Department of Public Safety-Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Drug Enforcement Administration, Muscatine County Sheriff's Office, Johnson County Drug Taskforce, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Lee County Drug Taskforce, Muscatine County Drug Taskforce, Iowa State Patrol, and Arizona Department of Public Safety.

This case is linked to Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement and communities. The strategy emphasizes building trust within communities and supporting organizations focused on violence prevention.
