U.S. District Judge Wendy D. Berger has sentenced Steven Paul McInally, a 36-year-old man from Scotland, to 25 years in federal prison for transporting and possessing child sexual abuse material. McInally had pleaded guilty on November 1, 2024.
Court documents reveal that McInally arrived at Orlando International Airport on August 25, 2023, while on vacation from Scotland. During a border search upon his arrival, law enforcement officials discovered child sexual abuse material on his cellphone. The materials included images of minors taken during a sleepover party at his home. A forensic review of the cellphone uncovered approximately 3,900 images and 70 videos of such material.
The investigation was conducted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations. Assistant United States Attorney Stephanie A. McNeff prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. The project coordinates resources from federal, state, and local agencies to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children and rescue victims.
