Two men from Dorchester have been charged with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. Rickey Simmons, 46, and Robert Campbell, 35, were charged following a federal search warrant executed in Dorchester.
The criminal complaint alleges that two loaded firearms were found in the living area occupied by Simmons. Campbell allegedly had a key to a safe in his bedroom containing thousands of dollars and a loaded Glock firearm. A small amount of suspected cocaine was also found in the room. Outside the bedroom door, authorities discovered a bag with three additional Glock firearms, one equipped with a machine gun conversion device for automatic firing. The bag also contained a loaded extended magazine compatible with the converted weapon. Court records indicate Campbell has prior convictions for assaulting police officers and resisting arrest.
If convicted, the charge carries up to 15 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000. Sentencing will be determined by a federal district court judge according to U.S. Sentencing Guidelines.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Leah B. Foley and James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Assistant United States Attorneys Mark Grady and Allegra Flamm are prosecuting the case.
"The details contained in the charging documents are allegations," officials stated. "The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law."
