A man from Fort Dodge, Iowa, was sentenced to 16 years in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Jordan Taylor, 35, pled guilty on April 11, 2024, to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of pure methamphetamine. Taylor's previous convictions for two drug trafficking offenses classified him as a career offender.

Evidence presented during the plea and sentencing hearings revealed that Taylor distributed methamphetamine on several occasions in August 2023 to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. In September 2023, a search warrant was executed at a hotel in Fort Dodge where Taylor was staying. Law enforcement found him attempting to flush methamphetamine down the toilet and seized about one pound of pure methamphetamine from his room, along with psilocin mushrooms, pharmaceutical tablets, over $1,100 in cash, and drug distribution paraphernalia. Further investigations attributed approximately three pounds of methamphetamine possession and distribution to Taylor.

The sentencing took place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. In addition to his prison term, Taylor will serve a five-year term of supervised release after imprisonment. The federal system does not allow parole. Until his transfer to a federal prison, Taylor remains in U.S. Marshals custody.

Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood prosecuted the case. The investigation involved the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Iowa DCI Laboratory, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and the Fort Dodge Police Department.
