Adam Joseph King, previously convicted by a jury in July, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for aggravated sexual abuse of a minor under 12 and abusive sexual contact with a minor under 12 in Indian Country. U.S. District Judge John D. Russell handed down the sentence.

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson stated, "King took advantage of a child entrusted in his care and continues to show no remorse for his actions." Johnson emphasized that a lengthy prison sentence is necessary to protect the community from King.

Evidence presented during the trial revealed that King sexually abused his girlfriend's child from ages eight through eleven. The victim testified about the abuse and reported it to a school counselor. Expert testimony confirmed that DNA evidence collected matched the child victim.

The investigation uncovered that both King and the child's mother denied any wrongdoing. Following the investigation, the child victim and sibling were removed from their home and placed with their grandparents.

The FBI, Catoosa Police Department, and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Valeria Luster and Matthew Cyran prosecuted the case.

This case was part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), an initiative launched by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. For those wishing to report such crimes, they can use the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children CyberTipline.
