Danielle R. Sassoon, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, has announced that Kyle Weiland has been sentenced to 75 months in prison. Weiland operated an illegal pill and narcotics manufacturing business on the dark web. U.S. District Judge Cathy Seibel sentenced him to 63 months in prison, with an additional 12-month term for violating his supervised release from a previous offense.

In September 2024, Weiland pled guilty to distributing methamphetamine and selling misbranded drugs. U.S. Attorney Danielle R. Sassoon stated, "In 2019, Kyle Weiland was convicted for selling illegal pills online. After serving his prison term and while still on supervised release, he returned to his illegal drug business." She added that this sentence sends a message against the sale of illegal pills and narcotics.

Weiland admitted to manufacturing and selling various pills containing methamphetamine, amphetamine, oxycodone, benzodiazepines, or their analogs on the dark web. He agreed to forfeit $2,093,887.72 in assets including cash, luxury cars such as a 2008 Maserati GranTurismo and a 2019 McLaren 570S, and cryptocurrencies.

Previously convicted in 2019 for similar offenses, Weiland served six months in prison followed by three years of supervised release before committing this latest offense.

In addition to his prison sentence, Weiland will serve three years of supervised release upon completion of his term. The case was praised by Ms. Sassoon for the investigative work conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shaun E. Werbelow and Justin L. Brooke from the Office’s White Plains Division.
