Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield has announced that Jenny Hansson will take on the role of communications director. Hansson, a prominent figure in Portland's broadcast journalism scene, is transitioning to this position after nearly 30 years in the field. Her career at KOIN News saw her covering a range of stories from daily news reports to weekly human-interest pieces.

"Jenny’s unique ability to tell the everyday stories that shape and impact our lives will be an incredible asset to the Oregon Department of Justice," said Attorney General Rayfield. "She will help me and our team deliver important information on complex issues and give a platform to communities whose voices would otherwise go unheard."

Hansson expressed enthusiasm about joining the Oregon Department of Justice, highlighting her commitment to supporting efforts aimed at building safe and healthy communities throughout Oregon. "At this critical juncture, the opportunity to join Attorney General Rayfield’s team was one I could not pass up," she stated. "The shared spirit of service to the people of our state will guide us forward in the years to come."

Starting today, Hansson steps into her new role within the department. She succeeds Roy Kaufmann, who has been serving as communications director under former Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum since 2023. Kaufmann has been aiding the transition for Rayfield's administration and is set to depart on February 2, 2025.

Attorney General Rayfield extended his gratitude towards Kaufmann: “I want to thank Roy for his close partnership during this transition, and for his professionalism in leading communication for the Oregon Department of Justice under my predecessor. We wish him well in his next chapter.”
