Fort Myers, Florida – A federal judge has sentenced Stephon Jamal Dale to two years in prison for firearm possession as a convicted felon. Dale, 38, from Fort Myers, had previously pleaded guilty on June 11, 2024.
Court documents reveal that on July 5, 2022, Dale sold a loaded Taurus revolver for $400. Under federal law, his status as a convicted felon prohibits him from possessing firearms and ammunition.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives conducted the investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Mark Morgan prosecuted the case.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative that involves collaboration between various levels of law enforcement and communities to reduce violent crime and gun violence. The Department introduced a violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021. This strategy aims to strengthen PSN by building community trust and legitimacy, supporting organizations that prevent violence proactively, focusing enforcement efforts strategically, and evaluating outcomes effectively.
