A Dominican national, Edward Tejeda Pimental, was sentenced to 37 months in prison for illegally reentering the United States after deportation. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper and includes two years of supervised release following his prison term. Deportation proceedings will follow the completion of his sentence.
Tejeda Pimental, also known as "Miguel Carrillo Rodrigues" and "Angel Matos," pleaded guilty in November 2024 to one count of illegal reentry. His history with U.S. immigration authorities dates back to 2003 when he was first removed from the country after a federal conviction for an immigration offense in Texas. He faced subsequent removals in 2008 after narcotics convictions in Massachusetts and again in 2018 following a drug-related arrest in New Hampshire.
Currently, Tejeda Pimental is facing an additional drug charge related to fentanyl trafficking from a 2022 arrest in Massachusetts state court.
The announcement of the sentencing was made by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Todd M. Lyons, Field Office Director at Boston's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. Assistant U.S. Attorney John J. Reynolds III from the Major Crimes Unit prosecuted the case.
