Former postal worker sentenced for stealing mail in Massachusetts

A former U.S. Postal Service employee was sentenced in federal court for mail theft. William J. Paige, 35, from Duxbury, received a sentence of two years' probation from U.S. District Court Judge Margaret R. Guzman in Worcester. Additionally, Paige was ordered to pay $5,119 in restitution to the victims.

In September 2024, Paige admitted guilt to three counts of theft of mail matter by a Postal Service employee. He had worked as a mail carrier in Whitinsville and between January and February 2022, he stole collector's coins and other items valued at over $5,000 from packages he was supposed to deliver.

The announcement came from United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy and Matthew Modafferi, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Postal Service Office of Inspector General, Northeast Area Field Office. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen M. Noto from the Worcester Branch Office.
