A Denver man, Flozell Beasley, aged 72, has been convicted by a federal jury on charges of bank robbery and robbery affecting interstate commerce. The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Colorado confirmed that Beasley was found guilty on four counts of bank robbery and one count related to a separate robbery.

The trial revealed that between May and July 2023, Beasley committed robberies at two banks, two credit unions, and a taco shop in Denver. During these incidents, he disguised himself as a construction worker and used a high-quality replica gun to threaten employees before stealing money. On July 11, 2023, he robbed the Vectra Bank located at 1001 E 17th Street. A GPS tracker hidden in the stolen money led authorities to arrest him shortly after he boarded an RTD bus.

United States Attorney Matt Kirsch stated: “Our office remains focused on stopping brazen, serial bank robbers who victimize bank employees.”

FBI Denver Special Agent in Charge Mark Michalek commented: “This individual is a previously convicted felon who was released from prison and returned to robbing banks -- and a restaurant when his chosen bank was closed.” He further emphasized the role of collaboration with local law enforcement agencies like the Denver Police Department and the Regional Transportation District in apprehending Beasley.

The trial was overseen by United States District Court Judge Regina M. Rodriguez. The investigation was conducted by the FBI Denver Field Office with prosecution led by Assistant United States Attorneys Brian Dunn and Garreth Winstead.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), which aims to reduce violent crime through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The initiative focuses on fostering trust within communities while setting strategic enforcement priorities.
