A Taunton man, Shavon Gurley, also known as "Soo Soo," has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for selling counterfeit pills containing methamphetamine. The sentencing took place in Boston's federal court under U.S. District Court Judge Myong J. Joun. Following his prison term, Gurley will be subject to five years of supervised release.

In October 2024, Gurley admitted guilt to charges of distribution and possession with intent to distribute over 500 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine. His involvement was linked to a Brockton-based drug trafficking organization dealing in fentanyl and methamphetamine.

The investigation revealed that between August 2-5, 2024, undercover law enforcement officers engaged with Gurley regarding the purchase of methamphetamine pills. On August 5, he sold over a kilogram of counterfeit Adderall pills containing methamphetamine to an undercover officer. During this transaction, Gurley offered discounts for larger purchases and discussed his broader drug operations.

Gurley claimed that he sells kilograms of fentanyl for $30,000 and higher purity fentanyl for $50,000. He also boasted about his narcotics profits and future business intentions with the undercover officer while on pretrial release for a domestic violence charge.

Search warrants executed at Gurley's residence and vehicle led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, posters with provocative captions about law enforcement and informants, suspected fentanyl substances, and approximately 10,000 counterfeit Adderall pills believed to contain methamphetamine.

Gurley's criminal history includes numerous offenses involving firearms and violence. Notably, he was convicted in 2012 for assaulting someone with a pistol and served six to ten years in state prison.

The announcement was made by United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy alongside Jodi Cohen from the FBI's Boston Division. The Taunton Police Department provided significant assistance during the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Philip A. Mallard prosecuted the case as part of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit.
