California Attorney General Rob Bonta has expressed support for Governor Gavin Newsom's recent executive order aimed at protecting homeowners from unsolicited property offers in the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires. The order seeks to shield affected residents from predatory buyers during this vulnerable time.

Bonta emphasized the need for assistance to those impacted by the wildfires, acknowledging that while many have stepped up to help, there are individuals who may exploit the situation. "Californians who have been affected by the Los Angeles wildfires need our help, and people across the state and country have been stepping up to lend a hand," he stated.

The executive order prohibits unsolicited low-ball offers for properties in fire-affected areas, providing homeowners with protection and relief. Bonta made it clear that any attempts to take advantage of these circumstances would be met with scrutiny. "Let me be crystal clear: if you target vulnerable Californians who have not said they want to sell, we will investigate you and we will hold you accountable," he warned.

He encouraged anyone receiving such offers to report them through his office's website at oag.ca.gov/report. "Taking advantage of our families as they are grieving and processing their losses will not be tolerated," Bonta affirmed.

Attorney General Bonta also expressed gratitude towards Governor Newsom for his proactive measures in response to the wildfire crisis. "I thank Governor Newsom for continuing to take quick, aggressive action in response to the wildfires," he concluded.
