The North Dakota Court System has announced a job opening for an Electronic Court Recorder/Transcriptionist in Bismarck. The position offers an annual salary of $51,900 and is classified as full-time and regular within the Unit 3 - District Court Judge Chambers.

Candidates applying for this role will be responsible for making verbatim records of district and juvenile court trials using audio recording equipment. They will also write court logs, note appearances, and provide transcripts as required. Additional duties include providing administrative support to a referee or district judge, assisting with calendar control, scheduling, and serving as a liaison between the judge and other parties.

Applicants must possess strong technology and grammar skills. The ideal candidate should be dependable, detail-oriented, proficient in proofreading, assertive in ensuring accurate records, customer service-oriented, and supportive of others.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma and two years of related experience. Candidates must have a valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility. Certifications from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (AAERT) are required or must be obtained within two years of employment. Equivalent certifications from other state or federal courts may be accepted.

The job involves clerking duties in the courtroom such as administering oaths, marking documents, maintaining logs, transferring storage devices to the clerk of district court for reference, preparing official transcripts, coordinating meetings, maintaining calendars for judges' schedules, providing secretarial support by preparing correspondence and legal documents, performing clerical tasks like scheduling staff rotations and managing office supplies.
