A Lowell resident, Darasy Chhim, was arrested on January 10, 2025, after being found in a Lowell home. Chhim is wanted for his alleged involvement in a drug trafficking conspiracy. The 39-year-old faces charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute heroin, cocaine base, fentanyl, MDMA, over 500 grams of cocaine, and more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.

Chhim was indicted along with 14 others in June 2021 but evaded capture until now. Court documents suggest that he was part of the One Family Clique street gang. From February 2019 to June 2021, it is alleged that Chhim and co-defendants distributed drugs across Massachusetts and other states like Virginia and California. The group reportedly trafficked large quantities of dangerous drugs such as fentanyl and methamphetamine. Allegedly a leader within the gang, Chhim's activities included firearm trafficking and money laundering.

If convicted, Chhim could face up to 20 years in prison, at least three years of supervised release or potentially life supervision post-release, and a fine reaching $1 million. Asset forfeiture related to the alleged drug offenses is also possible.

The arrest announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy alongside several law enforcement officials from various agencies including the FBI Boston Division and Lowell Police Department among others. Assistance came from state police and local sheriff’s offices.

This case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling significant criminal organizations through a coordinated approach involving multiple agencies.

The details outlined are based on allegations contained in charging documents; Chhim remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt in court.
