New York Attorney General Letitia James has addressed the ongoing contract negotiations between MSG Networks and Altice, the parent company of Optimum. In her statement, she highlighted the impact on New Yorkers who are unable to access sports and television programming due to the stalled discussions.
James emphasized that "the people who are impacted the most are everyday New Yorkers who simply want to watch sports and enjoy television programming." The dispute involves Altice, which owns Optimum, and MSG Networks, known for providing coverage of popular New York sports teams.
The Attorney General expressed concern over consumers missing out on content they have paid for due to the inability of both parties to finalize an agreement. She stated, "I will be monitoring this situation closely to ensure New York customers receive the services they are paying for."
James urged both companies to collaborate effectively to resolve their differences. She said, "I urge both companies to work together to reach a fair, final agreement so New Yorkers can get back to rooting for the home teams."
