To kickstart 2025 National Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Attorney General Ashley Moody is calling on Floridians to join the fight. The U.S. Department of State estimates that there are 27.6 million people trafficked worldwide at any given time. This staggering number includes victims right here in Florida. To help law enforcement stop trafficking and rescue victims, Attorney General Moody is asking Floridians to get involved through several initiatives designed to equip Floridians with the tools needed to spot and report suspicious activity.
Attorney General Ashley Moody said, “In Florida, we have created several unique initiatives to help the public join our fight to end human trafficking. Our goal is to train as many Floridians as possible to spot and report suspicious activity. Thousands have already answered our call and received unique anti-trafficking training. If you are still waiting to sign up, Human Trafficking Prevention Month is a great time to join our team. You can learn more at YouCanStopHT.com.”
Combating human trafficking is one of Attorney General Moody’s top priorities. Some of Attorney General Moody’s many efforts to fight back against traffickers and protect Floridians include:
- Creating a Statewide Trafficking Hotline and an Investigative Strike Team: Working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Attorney General Moody and the Statewide Council on Human Trafficking designated a human trafficking hotline, 1(855) FLA-SAFE, specific to Florida, allowing tipsters to report suspected trafficking within the state. The Florida Human Trafficking Strike Team works with regional law enforcement partners to investigate the reports. The tip line also supports survivors by providing referrals to services they need.
- Launching the 100 Percent Club: A campaign that recognizes Florida businesses and organizations who commit to train their employees to spot and report suspected trafficking.
- Leading the Annual Human Trafficking Summit: Every year, Attorney General Moody leads the Human Trafficking Summit, bringing together local, state and national leaders to share expert testimony about protecting victims, preventing trafficking and prosecuting traffickers.
- Creating an Online Safety Toolkit: Attorney General Moody created an online toolkit designed to help parents teach their children about the dangers of human trafficking online and create effective plans for safe internet use.
Since 2019, Attorney General Moody’s Office of Statewide Prosecution has charged more than 130 traffickers.
