Zavian I. Kizer, a 23-year-old resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, has been sentenced to 180 months in prison following his guilty plea to charges of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute over 400 grams of fentanyl. The sentencing was delivered by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady, as announced by United States Attorney Clifford D. Johnson.
In addition to the prison term, Kizer will undergo five years of supervised release. Case documents reveal that between 2020 and 2022, Kizer obtained fentanyl pills from Arizona for distribution in Northern Indiana. He recruited individuals to transport these pills and subsequently ship the proceeds back to Arizona.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Fort Wayne Safe Streets Gang Task Force. This task force includes the Indiana State Police, Allen County Sheriff’s Department, and Fort Wayne Police Department. Assistance came from several agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration’s North Central Laboratory and police departments in Phoenix and Glendale, Arizona.
Prosecution was handled by Assistant United States Attorneys Anthony W. Geller and Lesley J. Miller Lowery. The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) initiative aimed at dismantling high-level drug traffickers and criminal organizations through a collaborative law enforcement approach.
