The Supreme Judicial Court has ruled in favor of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell in the case against the Town of Milton. The lawsuit was centered on Milton's non-compliance with the MBTA Communities Law. The court's decision mandates that Milton must adhere to this law.

Attorney General Campbell commented on the ruling, stating, "Today’s decision is a resounding victory for the Commonwealth and a major step forward in our work to address the unacceptably high cost of housing for our residents." She emphasized that the court clarified that compliance with the law is mandatory for communities subject to it, and not optional.

Campbell acknowledged those who have already taken steps towards compliance, saying, "I applaud the residents, municipal officials, and communities that have already adopted zoning to help relieve our statewide housing crisis." She also mentioned plans to collaborate with the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities following this decision to assist in issuing regulations.
