A Delaware City man has been sentenced for the assault and murder of his father in 2023. On December 13, Allan Henderson Jr., aged 38, received a life sentence plus two years in prison for convictions of Murder 2nd Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony in New Castle County Superior Court. The sentence follows an investigation into the January 2023 fatal stabbing of Allan Henderson Sr., who was 75.

“This case was chilling and heart-wrenching,” stated Attorney General Kathy Jennings. “In the wake of such a devastating loss, I am profoundly grateful to the prosecutors and law enforcement whose hard work and dedication removed this violent criminal from the streets before he could continue the path of brutality he so evidently planned to carry out. Our communities are that much safer for your service.”

On January 25, 2023, Henderson Jr. was arrested at his father's home in Newark, Delaware, where his father's body was found stabbed multiple times. Investigators also discovered various weapons, including knives and guns stolen from the victim. They found handwritten notes and videos made by Henderson Jr., detailing plans to kill his father, steal his guns, and harm others who lived with him.
