A Turtle Creek resident has admitted guilt in a federal court to the charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm, as announced by United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan.

Deon Dutrieuille, aged 24, entered a guilty plea to one count before Senior United States District Judge Nora Barry Fischer.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that on November 25, 2023, officers from the Monroeville Police Department responded to an incident at the Monroeville Mall related to retail theft. They found Dutrieuille in the driver's seat of a vehicle wearing a stolen jacket. Despite having multiple prior felony convictions and an outstanding warrant, Dutrieuille attempted to flee but was apprehended and taken into custody. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered a stolen Glock handgun with his fingerprints on it. Federal law prohibits convicted felons from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Judge Fischer has set sentencing for April 15, 2025. The potential maximum sentence includes up to 15 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $250,000. The actual sentence will be determined based on the seriousness of the offenses and Dutrieuille's prior criminal history according to federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Assistant United States Attorney Brendan T. Conway is handling the prosecution for this case.

The investigation leading to Dutrieuille's prosecution was conducted by the Monroeville Police Department and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives with assistance from the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.
