A Tennessee resident has been sentenced to two months in prison for using a drone to deliver marijuana to an inmate at the Federal Correctional Complex in Yazoo City. Following his release, he will be on supervised release for three years.

Court documents reveal that Mark Anderson, 50, from Tullahoma, Tennessee, flew a drone carrying about 195 grams of marijuana over the correctional facility. The delivery occurred during the early morning hours of October 2, 2021, when the drone released its cargo for an inmate to retrieve.

Anderson entered a guilty plea on September 26, 2024.

The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee of the Southern District of Mississippi and Acting Special Agent in Charge Eric DeLaune of Homeland Security Investigations.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations. Assistant U.S. Attorney Bert Carraway prosecuted the case.
