A Beaumont man has been sentenced for drug trafficking in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Damien M. Diggs.
Francisco Manuel Magdaleno, aged 41, was found guilty at trial of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He received a sentence of 265 months in federal prison from U.S. District Judge Marcia A. Crone on January 7, 2025.
Court documents indicated that between February 2019 and May 2022, Magdaleno was part of a conspiracy trafficking methamphetamine from Michoacán, Mexico, through Beaumont, Texas, and into various parts of the United States. The conspiracy involved more than 20 known co-conspirators linked to the Magdaleno drug trafficking organization.
The investigation highlighted Magdaleno's significant role in acquiring over ten thousand grams of methamphetamine and distributing it across Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. Trial evidence also showed that he distributed multiple kilograms of cocaine.
This case is part of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative. OCDETF focuses on identifying, disrupting, and dismantling top-level drug traffickers and transnational criminal organizations by employing a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven approach involving multiple agencies.
The investigation was conducted by several law enforcement bodies including the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Beaumont HIDTA Task Force, Beaumont Police Department, Texas Department of Public Safety-CID, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Chambers County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution team consisted of Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan Lee and Rachel Grove.
