Attorney General Steve Marshall issued a statement regarding the death of Irondale Police Lieutenant Mark Meadows. Lieutenant Meadows died in the line of duty on Monday morning. He was setting up traffic cones at an intersection when he was struck by a vehicle.
Marshall expressed his condolences, stating, “Tonight, my heart goes out to the family of Lieutenant Mark Meadows of Irondale Police Department, his colleagues, and the entire Irondale community." He praised Lieutenant Meadows for his dedication throughout a career spanning over thirty years in law enforcement.
“Throughout his over thirty-year career in law enforcement, Lieutenant Meadows was a committed law enforcement professional who always put the safety and well-being of his community first," said Marshall. He highlighted Meadows' service to "his country, state, and city" and called for gratitude toward him and his family.
The Attorney General also urged others to join him in mourning: “Please join me and all Alabama law enforcement in mourning the loss of Lieutenant Meadows and offering our condolences to his fellow officers and loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time.”
