U.S. Attorney Timothy Duax | U.S. Department of Justice

Amy Parks, a 57-year-old resident of Sioux City, Iowa, was sentenced to 102 months in prison following her guilty plea to charges related to methamphetamine distribution and firearm possession. Parks admitted guilt in federal court on June 27, 2024, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime.

Court evidence revealed that from January 2021 through June 2023, Parks participated in a conspiracy that distributed ten pounds of methamphetamine. In 2023 alone, she was involved in seven transactions distributing between a quarter and half a pound of the drug to an individual cooperating with law enforcement. Upon her arrest on June 19, 2023, authorities searched her residence and found approximately two ounces of methamphetamine, digital scales, paraphernalia related to drug use and distribution, cash, and a loaded 9mm firearm. Parks admitted the handgun was used in furtherance of her drug trafficking activities.

The sentencing took place before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Besides the prison term, Parks is required to serve three years of supervised release post-incarceration. It is noted that there is no parole available in the federal system. Until she is transferred to a federal prison facility, Parks remains under the custody of the United States Marshal.
