Reed Smith today announced that its Richmond, VA-based Government Relations team is spinning off from the firm to create a government relations and lobbying practice called Seven Hills Strategy Group LLC. The team includes partners Edward Mullen and Nicole Brenner and counsel Christine Cogbill Noonan.
“The decision to leave Reed Smith was a difficult one for each of us, but we are excited to launch Seven Hills to provide lobbying and legislative assistance to clients in Virginia and beyond,” said Mullen, who has been at Reed Smith for more than 16 years and served as the firm’s Richmond office managing partner. “Nicole, Chrissy and I have been Reed Smith lawyers for 30 years collectively and are very fond of the relationships we’ve built at the firm and the work we’ve done in service of our clients. As we embark on this new venture, we will maintain a close relationship with Reed Smith.”
Seven Hills Strategy Group will focus on government relations strategy and advocacy before all Virginia state agencies, the Virginia General Assembly, the Office of the Attorney General, the Office of the Governor and other state executive branch offices, and the Virginia congressional delegation. Seven Hills will also provide legislative drafting and multi-state government relations strategy, as well as state attorneys general and environmental regulatory counsel.
“Working alongside Edward, Nicole and Chrissy has always been a true pleasure. They are wonderful colleagues and will continue to be dear friends of the firm,” said Julie Hardin, managing partner of Reed Smith-Americas region. “We wish them well and know they will accomplish great things. We look forward to continuing to collaborate on behalf of our clients.”
