Morton County is seeking an Assistant States Attorney to handle juvenile, criminal, and civil prosecution cases. This role provides a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about justice. The position offers a salary range from $60,000 to $130,000, depending on experience.
Candidates must hold a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice in North Dakota. Preference will be given to those with experience in juvenile law or criminal litigation and those who have effectively collaborated with law enforcement and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities include preparing and prosecuting various cases through trials, representing the county in community engagements, conducting legal research, drafting appeals for the North Dakota Supreme Court, and providing legal guidance to law enforcement. Additional duties involve negotiating with defense attorneys and managing multiple demanding projects.
Applicants should possess strong computer skills including proficiency in Westlaw and Microsoft Office. They should also demonstrate abilities in legal analysis, effective communication, negotiation, risk management techniques, and maintaining working relationships.
