Federal grand jury announces December indictments

United States Attorney Clint Johnson has announced the results of the December Federal Grand Jury 2024-A indictments. Several individuals have been charged with violations of United States law based on indictments returned by the Grand Jury. An indictment is a formal way to inform a defendant of alleged federal law violations, which must be proven in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

Malachi Bernard Carson, 24, from Tulsa, faces charges of aggravated sexual abuse by force and threat in Indian Country and sexual abuse of a minor in Indian Country. He is accused of engaging in a sexual act through fear, force, and threat and allegedly with a minor under 16 years old. The FBI and Muscogee Creek Nation Lighthorse Police Department are investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephanie Ihler is prosecuting it.

Adrian Hatfield, also 24 and from Tulsa, is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition after previously being convicted of felonies. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Tulsa Police Department are handling the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen J. Flynn is prosecuting this case.

Jordan Shay Ryan Kelly, 34, from Miami and a member of the Shawnee Tribe, is charged with robbery in Indian Country for allegedly taking property by force, violence, and intimidation. The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Miami Police Department are investigating this matter. Assistant U.S. Attorney John W. Dowdell is prosecuting it.

Roberto Lopez Manuel, 46, a Mexican national, faces charges for unlawful reentry into the United States after being removed in April 2015. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Removal Operations along with the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office are investigating this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles Greenough is handling prosecution.

Mario Albert Ordaz Jr., 49, from Riverbank, California, has been charged as a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition following previous felony convictions. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol are conducting investigations here as well; Assistant U.S. Attorney Shakema M. Onias will prosecute this case.
