A convicted felon has been sentenced on drug and gun charges, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and FBI Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.
U.S. District Court Judge Annemarie Axon sentenced Waymon Lanar Robinson, Jr., 31, from Birmingham, to 140 months in prison. In September, Robinson pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, heroin, and fentanyl; carrying a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime; and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Court documents reveal that on March 1, 2023, deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office conducted surveillance on a house in Tarrant, Alabama linked to the gang “Hard2Kill.” Officers executed a traffic stop in an alleyway behind the residence. They observed Robinson place something inside his pants and walk away from the house. Upon approaching him, officers asked if he was armed. Robinson confirmed he was and showed them a Glock .40 caliber pistol tucked into his waistband. Additionally, Robinson had fentanyl, methamphetamine, hydrocodone pills, heroin, and marijuana concealed inside a Crown Royal Bag within his pants.
The investigation was carried out by the FBI along with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Brittany Byrd prosecuted the case.
