A Hampton man has been sentenced to 26 years and 10 months in prison for his involvement in a drug conspiracy and possession of firearms related to drug trafficking. According to court documents, Lemoyne Williams, 44, was involved in manufacturing and distributing heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine from June 2018 until his arrest on October 14, 2022.
The Newport News Police executed a search warrant at Williams' apartment on October 30, 2019. After several minutes of knocking without response, officers forced entry into the residence where they found Williams with his partner and two children. The search uncovered nearly 50 grams of heroin and fentanyl, along with other drugs and paraphernalia including a stolen handgun loaded with ammunition.
Williams was indicted by a federal grand jury on August 10, 2022. When officers attempted to arrest him based on this indictment, he resisted compliance leading agents to breach the door where they observed narcotics openly displayed. Further searches revealed additional drugs and five loaded firearms.
Williams has prior convictions dating back to a manslaughter charge in 1999 as well as possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute while wearing body armor during a pending trial in 2000. At the time of his recent offenses, he was under court supervision for another drug-trafficking conviction.
Jessica D. Aber from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced the sentencing alongside Jarod Forget from the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Washington Division; Steve R. Drew from Newport News Police; and Jimmie Wideman from Hampton Police after U.S. District Judge Arenda Wright Allen delivered the sentence.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Julie Podlesni prosecuted this case.
