Christopher Barry, a 42-year-old resident of Saratoga Springs, New York, has been sentenced to six years in prison for receiving child pornography. The announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Barry's guilty plea revealed that he received child pornography between June 2021 and January 2022. On February 9, 2023, he was found in possession of two phones containing such material. The case involved over 1,500 still images and at least four videos depicting child pornography.

United States District Judge Anne M. Nardacci imposed a sentence that includes a 15-year term of supervised release following incarceration. Barry is also required to forfeit the phones used in the offense and pay $42,000 in restitution to 14 victims. Additionally, he must register as a sex offender upon his release.

The investigation was conducted by HSI with support from the New York State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander Wentworth-Ping prosecuted the case under Project Safe Childhood. This initiative, launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006, focuses on locating and prosecuting individuals who exploit children online while rescuing victims.
