Amazon facility worker William Allen said that the company provides extensive leave options, structured workflows, and full benefits amid discussions about the ongoing New York Teamsters strike. This statement was made to X on December 20.

"I work at an Amazon facility," said Allen. "Paid personal time off? plentyUnpaid personal time off? plenty. Vacation time? plenty. Medical leave at about 50% pay. Unpaid leave unlimited,"

In response to the ongoing New York Teamsters strike, Allen described his work at Amazon as "easy" with full benefits. He said that when employees are injured but able to work, they are placed on "light duty" assignments while receiving full pay. These assignments typically involve minimal physical exertion and often consist of "menial" computer-based tasks.

According to a Teamsters press release, the union launched a nationwide strike against Amazon on December 19th, 2024. The strike followed Amazon's alleged refusal to engage in collective bargaining with its employees. The strike involved workers at multiple Amazon facilities, including locations in New York City and Southern California.

While the union had anticipated "nearly 10,000" participants, only tens of strikers actually participated. An Amazon warehouse manager reported to Globe Banner that only seven employees at their facility, which employs over 1,500 workers, joined the strike.

In a September press release, Amazon announced a pay increase for its U.S. fulfillment and transportation employees, raising the average hourly wage to over $22 and total compensation to more than $29 per hour. This includes benefits such as healthcare, 401(k), flexible working hours, pre-paid tuition assistance, and dental care. This represents an average annual increase of $3,000 for full-time employees and a total investment of over $2.2 billion by the company.

Allen is an Amazon facility worker in the United States who shares insights into the company's workplace policies. Beyond work-related content, he describes himself as a fan of anime and Vtubers and actively engages in political discussions on his social media platforms.
