Evan Cutler, a 25-year-old resident of Queensbury, New York, has been sentenced to 44 months in prison for his involvement as a ringleader in a bank fraud conspiracy targeting SEFCU. This announcement was made by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
The conspiracy, which occurred between February 2022 and October 2022, involved Cutler and his codefendant Allahson Allah, age 54, from Albany. They obtained personal identifying information (PII) from SEFCU customers and impersonated them to fraudulently secure cash and credit. Additionally, they applied for loans using stolen identities and withdrew the proceeds in cash. The total amount netted by the conspirators was $88,800, with intended losses exceeding $100,000.
Cutler's sentencing marks the conclusion of this investigation and prosecution. Previously sentenced coconspirators include:
- Allahson Allah received a sentence of 57 months in prison followed by three years of post-release supervision. He was ordered to pay restitution amounting to $88,800.
- Caeshara Cannon, age 36 from Albany, was sentenced to 16 months in prison followed by two years of post-release supervision. She was ordered to pay restitution totaling $77,200.
- Davon Parson, age 20 from Albany, received a sentence of 15 months' incarceration followed by two years of post-release supervision with restitution set at $9,000.
- Dnauticah Taylor-Sterman, age 22 from Albany, was sentenced to eight months' imprisonment followed by three years of post-release supervision with restitution ordered at $25,000.
The case was investigated by HSI with assistance from the Bethlehem Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Benjamin S. Clark prosecuted the case.
