A Hyannis resident, Timothy Lee Galvin, 32, has pleaded guilty in a Boston federal court to charges related to firearms and drug distribution. U.S. District Court Judge Angel Kelley has set the sentencing date for April 3, 2025. Galvin faced indictment in August 2023.

The charges stem from an incident on June 2, 2023, in Barnstable where Galvin was apprehended with approximately six grams of fentanyl and three rounds of 9mm ammunition in his possession. A search revealed a privately made .45 caliber pistol along with additional ammunition.

The charge of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl carries a potential sentence of up to 20 years imprisonment, at least three years of supervised release, and fines reaching $1 million. The firearm-related charge mandates a minimum five-year sentence and could extend to life imprisonment with possible fines up to $250,000.

The announcement came from United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy; James M. Ferguson, Special Agent in Charge at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives' Boston Field Division; and Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois. Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Tolkoff is handling prosecution duties.

This case falls under Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative aimed at reducing gun violence by uniting law enforcement agencies and community groups. The program emphasizes trust-building within communities and prioritizes strategic enforcement efforts.
