Terrence Jay Mason, a 31-year-old resident of Charleston, West Virginia, has been sentenced to seven years and four months in prison for distributing five grams or more of methamphetamine. Following his prison term, Mason will undergo four years of supervised release.
Court documents reveal that in April 2023, Mason sold approximately 74 grams of methamphetamine over three separate transactions to a confidential informant in Charleston. He admitted to selling around 26 grams on April 6, 2023.
On May 2, 2023, law enforcement officers executed an arrest warrant for Mason at a residence on Frame Street in Charleston. During the operation, officers found Mason attempting to dispose of U.S. currency and methamphetamine in a bathroom. A tactical shotgun, semi-automatic rifle, and significant amounts of controlled substances were also discovered in the residence. Officers seized about 140 grams of methamphetamine, 44 grams of fentanyl, five loaded firearms including the shotgun and rifle, and $8,724.
The announcement was made by United States Attorney Will Thompson who praised the investigative efforts of the Charleston Police Department-Street Crimes Unit.
The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Thomas E. Johnston with Assistant United States Attorneys Samuel D. Marsh and Francesca C. Rollo prosecuting the case.
